Non-reciprocity in many-body systems

Out of equilibrium, a lack of reciprocity is the rule rather than the exception. Non-reciprocity occurs in systems including active matter, driven-dissipative quantum systems, networks of neurons, and solidification fronts.

I will discuss the effect of non-reciprocity on the collective behavior of many-body systems, ranging from non-symmetric response functions and their effect on mechanics and fluid flows to phase transitions into time-dependent phases in which spontaneously broken continuous symmetries are dynamically restored.
