van der Waals Interfaces

Van der Waals (vdW) interfaces are emerging as a versatile platform to control and investigate electronic, magnetic and optical properties of quantum materials. I will discuss nano-optical studies of ambipolar charge transfer across an interface of vdW materials with different work functions. I will also discuss space-time metrology of tera-Hertz plasmon polaritons in graphene. This novel experimental approach allowed us to directly probe electronic interactions of the Dirac quasiparticles in graphene. I also plan to discuss light-matter interfaces involving excitations in van der Waals materials and photons of the matching color.
