(Super)conductivity Modulation at the Interface Between two Insulating Oxides

At the interface between two materials, electronic phases absent from the bulk of each material can appear. In particular, at the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 interface a mobile electron system is observed, while both LaAlO3 and SrTiO3 are band insulators. In this seminar, we will summarize the different scenarios explaining the conduction in this system. We will then describe the structural properties and finally the transport properties, focusing on the electrostatic field effect modulation of the superconductivity.
